Morocco has acquired the mighty anti-ship AGM84 missiles that will be carried by its F16 fleet, Moroccan defense news website Far-Maroc said.
The new weapon will further boost Morocco’s deterrence capabilities in its arms race with neighboring Algeria.
The two countries are bogged down in a cold war against the backdrop of Algeria’s support for the Polisario separatists.
Morocco also ordered 12 new F16 Fighting Falcon for $1.8 billion, the website said.
The deal was struck during a visit last April by Morocco’s chief of staff Abdelfettah Louarrak to the US.
