Rabat – Morocco embarks on a political process that embodies national values and innovative dynamism, and implements, for over a decade, a participatory and open governance, Moroccan Foreign Minister Taieb Fassi Fihri said.
Speaking, Friday in Rabat, at the opening of the International Forum on democratic transitions and constitutional processes in the Arab world, the Minister stressed that the monarchy has been, throughout history, the symbol of the legitimacy of the political system and sustainability of the Moroccan State. It defends moral values, the unity of the nation and its sovereignty, and guarantees the rights of individuals and groups, he added.
Morocco¹s new Constitution, the Minister said, strengthens the independence of the justice and the prerogatives of the head of government, consolidates the role of political parties, trade unions and civil society, and promotes the principles of good governance and transparency.
He noted that this constitutional reform reflects the political, social, institutional, legal and cultural dimensions of the Moroccan nation.
The Minister also said that Morocco, which has established, since independence, a multiparty system, is committed to a tolerant and moderate Islam.
