Morocco donates 50 tons of food, drugs to Malian refugees in Burkina Faso

Rabat, Morocco – Morocco has donated 50 tons of food and drugs to Burkina Faso to alleviate the suffering of Malian refugees in the West African country, PANA learned Friday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

Upon instructions from King Mohammed VI, 50 tons of food and pharmaceutical products were Thursday shipped to Burkina Faso.

‘The Kingdom of Morocco continues to deliver humanitarian aid in favor of Malian refugees, after recently providing similar assistance to Malian nationals displaced in Mauritania, Niger and within the Republic of Mali,’ the source said.

Morocco has expressed ‘deep concern’ over the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation of the displaced civilians from the north of Mali.

Rabat has also urged all Malians to work for reconciliation, harmony and tolerance to ensure security and stability in their country.

The rebellion in northern Mali, which started in January, has displaced over 200,000 people, with most of them seeking refuge in neighboring countries.
