New York (UN) – Morocco was designated as the Security Council’s African representative at the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for a one year term, the UN said on Thursday.
This accession will enable the Kingdom to continue its leading role as a key player in maintaining peace in Africa, MAP learnt.
Morocco already served in the commission during the 2009-2010 period.
Colombia, a Security Council non-permanent country was designated as the Council’s latin American representative at the PBC.
The Peacebuidling Commission (PBC) is an intergovernmental advisory body that supports peace efforts in countries emerging from conflict, and is a key addition to the capacity of the International Community in the broad peace agenda.
