Rabat – Morocco strongly condemns the attack against the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which has claimed several lives, and offers condolences to the US government and people, a press release of the government said.
Following this attack, which has dramatic consequences, and which has claimed innocent lives, the government of Morocco “offers its deepest condolences to the American government and people,” said the release, voicing “profound compassion” with the families of the victims following this “vile” and “unjustifiable” act.
The government of Morocco also “strongly condemns” the content of movies, statements and any other works aimed to harm Islam and its symbols and values, “thus spreading a climate of hatred and violence and fanning tensions between peoples, religions and cultures in an sensitive international environment,” the communique said.
Morocco, it added, calls on the wise and moderate powers to draft positive and constructive initiatives to face such “provocative and aggressive actions and attitudes (…) whose consequences threaten peace and stability in the world.”
