New York – Morocco called, on Tuesday in New York, on the international community to assist Least Developed Countries (LDC), which were most affected by the economic crisis, to boost their resilience capacities.
“LDC were the most to bear the brunt of the effects of the 2008 crisis and experienced the slowest growth,” recalled Morocco’s Ambassador to the UN Mohamed Loulichki.
The Moroccan diplomat, who was addressing a UNDP meeting, stressed the need for ³strengthening LDC¹s resilience capacities to different crises and supporting these countries to carry out the required investment for ensuring production and creating jobs.²
Noting that the crisis risk ³is still looming², Loulichki noted that growth remains slow at the international level, which negatively affects the development prospects of poor countries.
In this regard, Loulichki said Morocco has made of south-south cooperation a pillar of its foreign policy.
The Moroccan Ambassador also raised the effects of climate change on food security in Africa, pointing to the humanitarian tragedy in the African horn.
