Morocco has busted some 57 terrorist cells since 2015, Abdelhak Khiame, the head of the country’s anti-terror bureau, the Central Bureau of Judiciary Investigations, said.
In 2018 the bureau dismantled eight cells, Khiame told Morocco’s official MAP news agency in an interview Thursday.
These figures bring the total number of the dismantled cells in Morocco, since 2002, to 183 cells, Khiame noted.
These counter-terrorism actions have arrested 3,129 people and foiled 361 terror plans, including some projects targeting “sensitive sites in the kingdom.”
Morocco spares no effort in sharing its counter-terrorism experience with partner countries at the regional and international levels, he said, noting that several African, European and Asian countries, in addition to Australia, have expressed their wish to learn from the Moroccan experience in this area.
