MANAMA: The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) continued to bolster its international reputation as a centre of excellence for alternative dispute resolution (ADR) following the completion of a three-day mediation workshop in Rabat, Morocco.
The event, for leading lawyers, judges and mediators, was held in co-operation with the Moroccan Bar Association (MBA).
The workshop provided training for 30 lawyers, judges and mediators from across Morocco on skills and techniques for successful mediation as a means of alternative dispute resolution, along with an introduction to the ADR services and state-of-the-art facilities available at BCDR-AAA.
“It is important that we develop the best international standards in mediation, MBA co-ordinator Youssef Al Flah said.
“The BCDR-AAA is a recognised, regional leader in the provision of ADR services and we are grateful for its support and insight in the field of mediation.
“We see this as the beginning for us, we hope to continue this partnership as we seek to increase awareness of the merits of ADR amongst businesses, government organisations and individuals.
“And obviously, the provision of highly reputable ADR services is always an attraction for foreign investors,” he added.
BCDR-AAA chief executive James MacPherson and chief registrar and assistant chief executive mediation Ali Al Aradi attended.
“It’s a great opportunity to come to Rabat and create strong business links with our Moroccan counterparts that will continue to be fostered in the future.
“It also demonstrates the chamber’s growing international reputation to be invited by the MBA to provide this course,” Mr Al Aradi said.
“The BCDR-AAA provides professional and efficient approach to dispute resolution, based on the highest international standards, bolstered by the world’s only free arbitration zone, which can prevent arbitration awards from a challenge in the domestic courts. We are happy to have the opportunity to share our experience in Morocco,” he added.
Mr MacPherson and Mr Al Aradi met Rabat Bar Association leader Mohammed Aldime, Rabat Young Lawyer’s Association secretary-general Mohammed Chmaou, Chief Justice and cabinet head Mohamed Khedraoui Hassania and Judicial Association vice-president Abderahmane Mesbahi.
