Rabat – Moroccan head of government Abdelilah Benkirane met, on Friday in Rabat, with the vice-president of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Masakazu Ichikawa.

The two sides discussed three-way cooperation, especially for the benefit of sub-Saharan countries, a cooperation which, Ichikawa told the press, the Japanese government deems essential.

He also underlined the importance of cooperation between Morocco and his country, two “excellent partners”.

On bilateral cooperation in the area of renewable energy, Ichikawa noted the presence of several Japanese energy companies in Morocco, especially those active in the area of solar energy, such as Mitsui and Mitsubishi.

JICA’s activities in Morocco cover a number of fields, particularly fisheries, rural development and sanitation.
