Morocco adopts national pact on rights of children

Morocco adopted a national pact on rights of children on Saturday, with the aim of allowing the North African country to optimize its human potential.

The pact was signed by many ministers under the presidency of Princess Lalla Meryem in the closing ceremony of Morocco’s 16th Congress of the Rights of the Child held in Marrakech, which coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

According to the pact, the Moroccan government, parliament, civil society and private sector commit themselves to putting children’s rights at the heart of social developement by 2030.

The government is also committed to improving the access to public health and education and reducing socio-spatial disparities, with a particular focus on early childhood.
