New York (UN) – Morocco will remain an active and committed partner of the United Nation to face the challenge of terrorism, Morocco’s ambassador to the UN Mohamed Loulichki said.
As part of the fight against the plague of terrorism, Morocco will remain an active and committed partner of the United Nation and the international community to face this challenge, the ambassador said before the UNSC convened for a debate on the progress achieved by the three UN counter- terrorism committees.
They are committees set up under resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011), 1373 (2001) and 1540 (2004), namely the Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee, the counter-terrorism committee and the committee on the proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
“After over a decade, the Counter-terrorism Committee (CTC) remains an indispensable tool that serves our joint action against terrorism,” he said, noting that Morocco supports CTC’ orientations aimed at reinforcing a transparent, strategic approach and fostering the role of facilitating and coordinating technical assistance supply to strengthen the capacity of member states to combat terrorism.
“We back the CTC’s intention to collaborate with the Inter-parliamentary Union. The MPs’ support for efforts by governments and their interactions with civil society are crucial for bolstering our joint commitment to fighting terrorism,” he said.
