Casablanca – Morocco is a model in the Arab world in promoting youth, women rights, Director of USAID-Morocco, John Groarke, said on Monday in Casablanca.
Speaking at the opening of a conference themed “Our voice, our community: participation of Arab youth in development,” he said that the United States insists on the involvement of youth as social actors and leaders in the process of change and development.
Groarke added that sharing experience between Arab youth contributes to implementing development programmes that are likely to enhance their living conditions, as part of global reforms.
He also reaffirmed that President Barak Obama supports reforms in the MENA region to achieve more democracy.
Organized by the USAID on October 14-17, the conference is bringing together youth representatives of Arab civil society from Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, the West Bank and Gaza.
