Morocco¹s Experience Highlighted At 13th Session Of Universal Periodic Review

Geneva – The constitutional reforms carried out by Morocco to strengthen democracy, protect human rights and reinforce the rule of law were welcomed by the majority of participants during the discussion of the national report that was submitted to the 13th session of the Universal Periodic Review, held in Geneva on May 22-25.

The interest in Morocco’s experience was mirrored in the participation of 93 delegations in the discussion as well as in the number questions and recommendations leading to the adoption of Morocco’s national report.

Civil liberties and political economic, social and cultural rights as well as women and children’s rights were among the themes that drew most of the attention during the debate.

The questions were in line with the reform process undertaken in Morocco. In this respect, the majority of participants underscored Morocco’s commitment to the Universal Periodic Review as well as to other UN human rights mechanisms.
