Rabat – A national march was staged, on Sunday in Rabat, at the call of the Democratic Labor Organization (ODT) to defend “the dignity and social justice” for workers.

Under the theme “the national march of anger,” the event started around 11:00 local time (10:00 GMT) at the Bab El Had square before crossing the Hassan II and Mohammed V boulevards.

Several hundred demonstrators chanted slogans calling for social justice and improved conditions of employees and the poor.

Participants also waved banners calling on the government to “assume responsibility” regarding the promotion of employment, health and education sectors.

Secretary General of the ODT, Ali Lotfi, told MAP news agency that this march, which is motivated by “no political agenda,” is part of the Union’s fight against “the social exclusion and for social justice.”

He criticized the government’s management that “puts pressure on the purchasing power of the poorer and the middle class and pushes social disparities,” calling on the cabinet to “keep its electoral promises and commitments.”
