Moroccan intellectuals hail Kuwait's participation in Aseela forum

ASEELA  (KUNA) – Moroccan intellectuals, participating in the on-going 33rd Aseela International Cultural Forum, hailed Kuwait’s events at the forum which showed many aspects of the Gulf country’s cultural authenticity.

Speaking to KUNA in this regard, Moroccan critic and professor at Mohammad V University in Rabat Zohor Karam said that Kuwaiti seminars and galleries held within the schedule of this intellectual gathering, which celebrates Kuwait as this year’s host, revealed many aspects of similarities between the culture and civilization of the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries and Morocco.

Karam highlighted the importance of Kuwait’s participation in this cultural event to strengthen cultural and intellectual ties between Kuwait and Morocco.

She also lauded Aseela’s administration for choosing Kuwait as this year’s “guest of honor” to celebrates this gulf country’s national and independence anniversiaris as well as the ascendance of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the throne.

“During the past 50 years, Kuwait has been able to prove its worthiness in leading the Arab region toward fair democracy and institutional lifestyle, in which law grants civil and political freedom to all,” she pointed out.

Meanwhile, Moroccan poet and member of the Aseela foundation Ekram Abdi told KUNA, in a similar statment, that this year’s event was widely received by the Moroccan public during the past two weeks.

The public was intrigued to attend all the Kuwaiti events of music concerts, folkloric galleries and poetry reading events, he added.

Abdi expressed admiration at Kuwaiti poetry that depicted all facets of current human issues of the Arab region.

She also expressed special pride in the Kuwaiti women poets who proved themselves capable of competing with a male-dominant cultural scene of poetry. The 33rd Aseela International Cultural Festival features several exhibitions and activities shedding light on Kuwaiti cultural and other contributions held under the auspices of the Moroccan King. Kuwait is the country guest of honor of this year’s Aseela Festival.

The sideline activities include crafts and folklore exhibitions, a photo exhibition on relations and exchanged visits, as well as an exhibition of contemporary Kuwaiti artistic creations.

Around 150 dignitaries from Kuwait are participating in the Forum.
