Morocco-based IT vendor M2M Group seems positioned to capture the biggest supplier contract ever issued by the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. This despite accusations from other bidders that the company is using unfair tactics such as omitting costs to make its bid appear smaller, said an article at newsdire.com. The company’s bid was the lowest submitted by three finalists under consideration by CBE.

The M2M bid of $8 million would cover the purchase and installation of 420 ATMs for the bank. But some of the other bidders have complained to the CBE that M2M made its bid appear smaller by leaving off Value Added Tax.

The company has also been accused of using refurbished machines rather than new ones in a previous installation for CBE. “It was a baseless allegation,” a senior manager of the company said to the publication. “We provided the best technology.”
