UN (New York) – The Moroccan diplomacy works in line with the vision of HM King Mohammed VI who has turned Morocco into a “credible, esteemed” partner on the international scene, Moroccan minister delegate for foreign affairs said Monday in New York.

Morocco is a “key partner” in the pursuit of peace and stability in the world, within various international forums and bodies, Youssef Amrani told reporters on the sidelines of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Kingdom “is reaping the fruits of this enlightened royal vision, particularly through moderation and bold reforms” implemented for the consolidation of the rule of law and democracy, so much so that Morocco is cited as a model for the region and praised for its commitment to peace-building at regional and international levels.

The recent launch of Morocco-US Strategic Dialogue in Washington, in line with the vision of HM King Mohammed VI, reflects the importance enjoyed by the Kingdom in the world, he said.

The official stressed that Morocco’s efforts to put the Mideast peace process on track through the fundamental action of HM King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, is another indication of Morocco’s special standing on the international scene.

In the Maghreb, Morocco endeavours to build a “homogeneous” bloc, a “strategic choice of our foreign policy,” the minister said.

Regarding the Kingdom’s national cause, Amrani reiterated Morocco’s commitment to continuing to participate in good faith in the UN-sponsored negotiations on the basis of clear parameters, namely the spirit of compromise and the political solution to move towards a negotiated settlement of this artificial dispute within the framework of the Moroccan autonomy initiative for the Sahara, deemed credible, serious and realistic by the international community.
