Montenegro and the Kingdom of Morocco Improving Mutual Cooperation

Minister of Transport and Marine Affairs Osman Nurković met with Mohamed Sajid, Minister of Tourism, Air Traffic, Domestic Work and Social Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco, who is currently staying in Montenegro, on June 21, 2018.

The aim of the meeting between the Moroccan and Montenegrin representatives was to further elaborate the activities related to the Agreement on cooperation in the field of air traffic between Montenegro and the Kingdom of Morocco. Both parties agreed that the exchange of experiences, all aspects and specifics of air traffic in the two countries, has the potential to significantly contribute to the further development of Montenegro and Morocco, both in the area of traffic and in other areas of importance for the two countries.

According to the reports from the conference, both ministers emphasized the commitment of their associates to this task, stressing the satisfaction that the text of the agreement was harmonized. As the representatives explained, after the internal government procedures of both countries in the forthcoming period, the Agreement on cooperation in the field of air traffic between Montenegro and the Kingdom of Morocco will be signed. The harmonization process started on September 18, 2017, during Minister Sajid’s last visit to Montenegro.

At the time, Mr. Sajid briefed Montenegrin representatives on the organization and work of the Ministry of Tourism, Air Transport, Local Economy and the Social Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco. He also offered close cooperation, experience, and assistance in the regulation of legislation in the field of social economy, with the tendency for cooperation in this field to reach an extremely enviable level, such as the level of political cooperation between the two countries.

The reports from the conference show that Minister Nurković shared his impressions from the Crans Montana Forum, organized under the auspices of King Muhammad VI, held in Dakhla, from March 15 to March 20, 2018, as well as from a bilateral meeting held in Rabat, in which Minister Nurković discussed the improvement of cooperation between the two countries in the field of maritime affairs with the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water of the Kingdom of Morocco, Abdelkader Amar. On this occasion, two ministers discussed the upcoming activities related to the signing of the Agreement on cooperation in the field of maritime transport as well.

The report also says that Minister Sajid has taken the opportunity to invite his colleague Minister Nurković to attend the opening of the Podgorica Summer Festival where the Moroccan Week of Craftsmen in Podgorica is organized, and also to introduce him to the activities that will take place during this manifestation, during which Moroccan craftsmen will display their products, music and national cuisine to the inhabitants of Montenegro. The event is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco and the City of Podgorica.

As the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Nurković wished his colleague Minister Sajid success at the event, and both ministers expressed their commitment to deepening and further improving good relations between Montenegro and the Kingdom of Morocco in all areas of importance for the two countries.
