She may be renowned for her fiery temperament but Paulina Rubio was all smiles as she ventured out into a bustling souk during a trip to the Morrocan tourist mecca of Marrakech.

The 41-year-old Mexican songstress soaked up the sights and sounds of the city’s famous street market along with adorable two-year-old son Andrea Nicolas.

Wearing combat trousers and a striking checked blouse, Paulina posed with a monkey as she explored the market’s many attractions.

The trip to Morocco came as Rubio seeks to put an unhappy 2012 behind her which saw her split from husband Nicolas Vallejo Najera before she was later accused of physically attacking a former assistant.

Rubio was also left distraught in December by the death of friend and fellow Latina singing icon Jenni Rivera, who was killed in a plane crash in Mexico.

Rubio’s relaxed holiday demeanour was in stark contrast to her infamously volatile image, such as when she was handcuffed and arrested in 2011 for disorderly conduct following a traffic incident in Miami.

Her volatile temperament was in the headlines again in November when former assistant Felipe Restrepo Betancur filed a lawsuit in Florida claiming Rubio attacked him for failing to secure her a seat on a first class flight.

Betancur claims he was subjected to a barrage of blows from the diminutive singer after a bust-up at Miami Airport.

Rubio’s lawyer rubbished the claims as drunken ‘fantasy and make believe’, noting that there was not a single witness to the alleged assault.
