Moroccan runner Mohamed Ahansal won his fifth Marathon des Sables title, Aufait Maroc reported on Sunday (April 14th). Defending champion Salameh Al Aqra of Jordan finished second.
“I’m very proud to bring the title back to Morocco,” Ahansal said after the race.
Of the 1,024 runners who began the 28th edition of the desert race on April 7th, 970 crossed the finish line. The competition ended Saturday with a charity race benefiting UNICEF.
