Today, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted the eighth call with his counterparts from countries affected by COVID-19, including Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Morocco, Peru, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

The Ministers discussed the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and agreed that a coordinated multilateral response continues to be essential as economies begin to reopen and plan for next steps.

Facilitating cross-border movement of goods, services and people by maintaining supply chains open and connected while resisting protectionist trends remains critical. Such cooperation will ensure that those most in need receive access to vital medical treatment and supplies, including personal protective equipment.

The Ministerial Group committed to remain in close contact to monitor the impact on countries and refugees in conflict zones, and on re-opening and transitioning to a new normal, as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve.
