St. Gallen / Casablanca, 26 April 2012. Militzer & Münch, the internationally active transport logistics company, opened a new logistics terminal in Casablanca in mid-April.

The facility comprises an area of about 8,200 m² and is located near the airport. With the new terminal, Militzer & Münch is extending its contract logistics business while at the same time strengthening its market presence in the Moroccan economic center.

Construction work began last year – the modern complex was finished in less than twelve months. “We are glad we were able to take the logistics terminal into operation so soon”, says Engelbert Heiser, Militzer & Münch’s Regional Managing Director for South Western Europe and the Maghreb. “Especially here in Morocco, we are experiencing above average growth.”

Wide ranging warehousing logistics

The logistics terminal was built on premises that measure about 13,000 m² and can be divided into three sectors. Together, they offer a logistics area of around 8,200 m², and 600 m² of office space. In the warehouse, the Militzer & Münch team provides wide ranging logistics services from receiving to temporary storage to order picking and distribution. The terminal comes with ten hall bays, two of which provide an adjustable ramp for light transporters.

“In our new terminal, we offer our customers wide ranging and customized logistics solutions”, says Olivier Antoniotti, Managing Director Militzer & Münch Maroc S.A.: “With this new terminal, we can adapt to the customers’ individual needs and offer them the complete service package.”

Central location

The terminal is located at Sapino Industrial Park, a perpetually growing industrial zone not ten kilometers from Casablanca’s city center, and in direct proximity to Casablanca’s international Airport “Mohammed V”. In no time, feeders get trucks to the interstates leading to Rabat, the country’s capital, to Marrakech, but also to Tangier at the northern most point of the country. This is where Tanger Med is being constructed, one of the largest deep sea ports on the African Continent. “Our terminal is optimally connected to the national and international traffic networks”, says Engelbert Heiser.

Good prospects

Already before the new facility was opened, Militzer & Münch Maroc had well-filled order books. “One of our first customers is the country’s biggest importer of electric appliances, and numerous small and mid size companies from here and from abroad have indicated their interest”, says Olivier Antoniotti. Militzer & Münch invested four million Euros in the new Moroccan terminal – and thus, in its commitment to the whole Maghreb region.
