Massive Desertec Solar Power Project Begins Construction in Morocco Next Year

Some exciting news on Desertec, the massive plan to build a network of solar power plants in the Sahara desert: Morocco has been selected to get the first solar power project, The Guardianreports

Construction of the first phase of the €200 billion ($265b), 500 MW solar thermal power project is planned to begin next year. The exact project location has yet to be determined, but is expected to be near Ouarzazate, south the Atlas Mountains. The project will take up 12 square kilometers (4.6 sq. miles) of desert.
