Tripoli – The Maghreb Union has become more necessary than ever, said on Monday Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, noting that the peoples of the region aspire to see an area of free movement with open borders becomes true.

The Tunisian president said he will make a Maghreb tour which will take him to Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania to boost the process of the Union, in order to meet the aspirations of the peoples of the region.

Speaking at a joint press briefing, in Tripoli, with Mustapha Abdeljalil, president of Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC), Marzouki stressed that his visit to Libya, the first to a foreign country, is part this vision.

He argued that relations between Tunis and Tripoli will lay the groundwork for the revitalization of this process.
