Madrid – The Spanish government is making, in the greatest secrecy, all possible efforts to rapidly free the two Spaniards, who were abducted along with an Italian in the polisario camps in Tindouf, Southwestern Algeria, a Spanish official source said on Monday.

“The government continues to make all possible efforts, in the greatest secrecy and with the collaboration of the governments of the countries of the region for the rapid release” of Spanish hostages Ainhoa Férnandez de Rincon and Enric Gonyalons, who were kidnapped in the region of Rabbuni, near Tindouf, said a statement of the Spanish Foreign Ministry.

The same source added that the Spanish government “was informed about the video in which appear the two Spaniards and the Italian national, Rossella Urru, abducted on October 23 in the Tindouf camps,” which confirms the information reported by the AFP news agency on the existence of a video of three western hostages held by a cell linked to AQIM (Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb).

The relatives of the two Spanish hostages were informed about the video, said the same source, adding that the government maintains “a permanent communication” with their families.
