Brussels – Lower House Speaker Karim Ghellab and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz stressed the need to reinforce the Moroccan-EU partnership.
Speaking to MAP following a meeting with Schulz in Brussels, Ghellab said that Morocco and the EU are called upon to reinforce their partnership in order to address the challenges facing the EU and the southern Mediterranean.
Ghellab said that the two parties also discussed the recent social and economic development in the region, the economic crisis in Europe and other issues relating to democracy, human rights, peace ands security in the region.
The meeting was also an opportunity for Ghellab to shed light on the latest development in the Sahara issue following Morocco’s withdrawal of confidence from the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for the Sahara Christopher Ross.
