Rabat  –  Liberia has reiterated, on Tuesday, its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative in the Kingdom’s southern provinces as the only basis to settle the conflict.

“The government and people of Liberia support the Moroccan stance on the Sahara. We are for Morocco’s territorial integrity and unity and we consider that the Sahara is part and parcel of its territory, president of the National Muslim Council of Liberia Sheikh Kafumba Konneh told the press following a meeting with head of the government Abdelilah Benkirane.

“I want to express my gratitude to HM the King and the Moroccan government and people for their unwavering support during the Liberian civil war which lasted 14 years. Morocco provided during this crisis scholarships for our students and shelter for some displaced people,” he added.

He underlined that the strengthening of relations between the two countries was also discussed at the meeting.
