SEOUL–South Korean mobile operator KT Corp. (>> KT Corporation) said Friday it is considering buying a stake in a Morocco telecommunications company.
It didn’t name the company.
A regulatory filing from KT said no decision has been made.
A Reuters report earlier this week said the South Korean company may bid for French conglomerate Vivendi S.A.’s (>> VIVENDI) 53% stake in Maroc Telecom (IAM.CS).
In June KT suspended plans to buy 20% of South Africa’s Telkom S.A. Ltd. (TKG.JO) because of opposition from that country’s government.
KT is looking overseas for growth opportunities because the domestic market is saturated.
