Kenyan Simon Ndirangu Wins Litchfield Road Race

LITCHFIELD—Simon Ndirangu of Kenya took over the lead on the Gallows Lane hill and won the 7.1-mile Litchfield Hills Road Race in 34:20.8 Sunday afternoon.
Henry Rutto of Kenya had led much of the race from the start but Ndirangu pulled ahead in the last mile. Samuel Ndereba of Kenya was second (34:27.1) and Rutto finished third (34:30.3).
Malika Mejdoub of Morocco, the 2010 women’s winner, won again, outkicking Hinut Beyene of Ethiopia in the last 200 meters and winning in 41:17.8. Beyene finished second in 41:20.9.
