Karim Ghellab Resigns As Minister Following His Election Speaker Of House Of Representatives

Rabat , Dec. 19 (MAP)  –  Karim Ghellab, who was elected on Monday speaker of the House of Representatives, tendered his resignation as minister to the head of the outgoing government Abbas El Fassi.

Ghellab, from the Istiqlal Party which came second in the last legislative elections with 60 seats, was minister of equipment and transport.
El Fassi informed HM King Mohammed VI who accepted the request in order to enable Ghellab to discharge his new mission.
The secretary-general of the equipment and transport ministry will deputize to expedite the ongoing projects.
Ghellab won 222 votes in the first round against 82 for Mohamed Abbou, from the National Rally of the Independents (RNI).
