Japan’s Electric Firm Furukawa Opens Plant in Morocco

Japan’s Furukawa Electric has opened in northern Morocco its first optical fiber plant in Africa, local media reported on Thursday.

According to the Moroccan financial daily L’Economiste, the plant in Tangier will produce optical fiber for local market and export.

The plant was built at a cost of 21.3 million U.S. dollars and is expected to create 200 direct jobs, the same source said.
