Tokyo – Japan commended on Monday the forerunner role of HM King Mohammed VI in initiating political reforms and ensuring the active progress of Morocco’s democratic process.
“We commend the forerunner role of HM King Mohammed VI in initiating political reforms in Morocco and ensuring the active progress of the democratic process spurred by the new constitution and the legislative elections,” Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba said in a meeting with Moroccan peer Saad Dine El Otmani in Tokyo.
Gemba also underlined the scope and solidity of relations between Japan and Morocco, enhanced by the friendship ties between Morocco’s Royal Family and Japan’s Imperial Family.
He seized this occasion to express, once again, his heartfelt thanks to Morocco for its sympathy, the aid provided by the civil society and the assistance mission sent to the disaster-stricken area by the Moroccan embassy in Japan.
El Otmani extended, once more, the Kingdom’s condolences following the catastrophe that hit Japan, expressing his admiration for the Japanese people’s remarkable discipline in these difficult circumstances.
The two ministers agreed to continue cooperation on solar energy, in accordance with the memorandum of cooperation inked during the 2nd Arab-Japanese Economic Forum in 2010 in Tunis.
El Otmani said that the Moroccan government intends to set up a system for solar energy production that will facilitate the participation of foreign businesses, including Japanese ones.
