Marrakech – An international symposium on the Sahara issue and the future of peace in the region opened on Wednesday in Marrakech.
The Symposium held by the Moroccan Sahara Association for Development and Solidarity brings together delegations from several countries as well as representatives of Saharan tribes in Morocco and abroad.
Head of the Association Ahmed Rihani Ould Omar Dlimi said that the event is an opportunity to highlight and defend Morocco’s territorial integrity.
Echoing him, President of the national association of martyrs, disapeared, and prisoners for the Moroccan Sahara, Abdelmjid Lefraoui shed light on Morocco’s efforts to secure regional stability in the Maghreb and called for lifting the blockade imposed on the population held against their will in the camps of Tindouf (south-western Algeria).
The symposium will feature conferences on Morocco’s autonomy proposal for its sothern provinces, Polisario’s connections with terrorist groups and terrorism in the region and its consequences on economic development.
