Iftar drive launched in Morocco

RABAT — The Mohammed Bin Zayed Iftar Campaign in Morocco on Thursday was launched by UAE Ambassador to Morocco Al-Asri Saeed Al-Daheri and Wali of Rabat-Sale-Zemmour-Zaer region Hassan Amrani in a ceremony here on Thursday in the presence of senior Moroccan officials, staff members of the UAE Embassy in Rabat and representatives of the media and local charities.

With a total budget of Dh7.3 million granted by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and on the directives from the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to help around 23000 families in different areas, the campaign will distribute aid in coordination with the Moroccan authorities and 120 local charities and aid agencies, Al-Daheri said.  Under the initiative, eligible needy families and special-needs people will receive food packets containing flour, sugar, oil, rice, tea, coffee, milk, tomato paste, lentil, chickpeas, vermicelli and jam.

Al-Daheri said such initiatives reflect the prominent bilateral relations between the UAE and Morocco.Also, the UAE Embassy in Rabat and the authorities of Misour and Fez-Boulemane regions organised mass iftars and distributed Ramadan food packets to locals in a number of villages and towns.
