Fez – HRH Princess Lalla Salma, chaired, on Friday night in Fez, the opening ceremony of the 18th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, held under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI under the theme “re-enchanting the World”.
In the time-honoured site of Bab Makina, HRH the Princess followed the opening concert which featured a breathtaking scenery entitled “be happy for a moment”, in tribute to the eminent Persian poet and scientist Omar Al Khayyam.
The scenery was conducted by French director Tony Gatlif, who is famous for his emotional movie soundtracks.
Livened up by the participation of several artists from central asia, the west and the east, this performance conveyed messages of tolerance and respect which are inherent to the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music.
During the nine-day event, other sites in the medeival city of Fez will be the venue for spiritual music, such as the Al Batha museum and Boujloud square.
Launch in 1994, Fez Festival of World Sacred Music remained attached to promoting peace as well as cultural and spiritual diversity bringing together a panoply of sacred music masters from around the globe.
