Baghdad – “Holding the Arab summit in Baghdad at this critical stage in the Arab region is for Iraq to assume its normal Arab position,” the Arab League Secretary General Nabeel Al Arab said at the opening meetings of the Economic and Social Arab Council Wednesday in Bagdad.
Nabeel Arabi also stressed the need for the completion of the projects approved, in advance, in the meetings of the Arab Summit, which benefit the Arab citizen.
“The current stage obliges us to steer the work to address poverty and high unemployment, in addition to exclusion and marginalization, as well as inequality between men and women,” he added.
Secretary General of the Arab League also announced the start of preparations for the next Development Summit in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in order to review the work of Arab development that meets the needs of the Arab peoples, calling for concerting efforts to implement the previous resolutions of the Arab Summit.
