Tangier – HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HH Prince Moulay Ismail, presided over a religious evening commemorating Laylat Al-Qadr (the 26th day of Ramadan), on Wednesday at the Mohammed V mosque in Tangier.
Following Al Icha and Taraouih prayers, the child Abdul Ghafoor Kmich (13 years, from Kenitra), recipient of the Mohammed VI national prize for Koran’s memorizing and psalmody, recited verses of the Holy Koran before receiving an award handed by the Sovereign.
This distinction reflects the deep interest which His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, lavishes on the orators of the Holy Quran and the desire of the Sovereign to promote learning and memorization of the Holy Book among the younger generations.
Subsequently, Professor Kaiss Ben Mohamed Ben Abdellatif Al Sheikh Mobarak, scholar from Saudi Arabia, delivered a speech before the Sovereign on behalf of the Ulema who participated in religious talks of the holy month of Ramadan 1433, in which they express their heartfelt thanks and profound gratitude to HM the King for having been invited to take part in them.
This praiseworthy tradition is of a very significant contribution to both the dissemination of the precepts and teachings of Islam and the learning and contemplating of the Glorious Qur’an, he said, stressing that the honorable scholars in Morocco and in the Islamic world made their presentations in different Moroccan cities. He noted that these prestigious lectures are now emerging as a forum devoted to the dissemination of religious knowledge and influence of enlightened thinking in the service of Islam and Muslims. The Ulema have, continued Professor Ben Abdellatif Al Sheikh Mobarak, closely observed piety and fervor of Moroccans as well as the blessings that the Almighty has bestowed upon the Kingdom of Morocco under the leadership of HM the King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful.
The religious evening was marked by “Khatm Sahih Al-Boukhari”, by Ahmed Cherrat, member of the local Ulema council of Tangier.
HM the King was then greeted by Hasna Khoulali, the first Moroccan and Arab woman to win the first International Award of memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran at the 54th International Contest of reciting the Holy Qur’an, held recently in Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia.
The Sovereign later awarded the Mohammed VI Prize of “Ahl Al-Quraan” and “Ahl Al-Hadith” respectively to Omar Lakdiri, Fquih in the Koranic traditional school of Zaouiet Belhoul (Province of Chichaoua) and Idriss Ben Daouiya, Chairman of Larache local Ulema.
The Monarch also handed the award Mohammed VI of Koranic schools to Mohamed El Bekkali, head of Al Mouahidine Islamic school in Tangier (price management), to Mohamed Boukssim, head of the Koranic school at the Tiksouine mosque in Arbaa Sahel, in the province of Tiznit (Price of the learning methodology) and to Hassan Mouatassim, head of a religious school in Amezmiz, in the province of Al Haouz (performance price).
This religious evening was held in the presence of the head of government, presidents of both houses of parliament, Advisors to HM the King, government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps of Islamic countries accredited to Morocco, senior officers the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Ulema who participated in religious talks of the holy month of Ramadan, Council Chair of ulema, elected officials, local and provincial authorities and other personalities.
