HM The King Enquires About The Programme To Develop Social And Educational Institutions Of The OCP

El Jadida – HM King Mohammed VI was briefed, on Tuesday in El Jadida, about a programme to develop social and educational institutions of Morocco’s state-owned phosphate producer, the Office chérifien des phosphates (OCP), to which an amount of 47.5 million dirhams is allocated.

– The Sovereign enquires about the OCP programme to improve education conditions in rural areas and prevent school dropout in the province of El Jadida.
– HM the King awards 10 busses to schools in the province of El Jadida and 200 bicycles to rural schoolchildren.The programme targets the reinforcement of the OCP’s social and educational institutions through revamping and extending four institutions out of six, building and equipping nine new institutions- of which seven were completed in 2011- in the areas where the OCP operates, namely El Jadida, Laayoune, Safi, Khouribga, Benguerir and Youssoufia.

In EL Jadida, the OCP has an education institution that hosts 1.471 pupils with 18 classrooms for the preschool education and 36 for primary education.

The OCP social and educational institution in EL Jadida houses notably multimedia halls, a music hall, a library, a science laboratory, an infirmary, sports areas, green spaces and a dormitory for nursery children.

The OCP’s social and educational promotion institution in EL Jadida spans over an area of two hectares, of which 8000 square meter is covered. The facility was build for a total cost of 65 million dirhams.

HM the King also enquired about the OCP-led programme to enhance the education condition in rural areas and fight school dropout in the province of El Jadida.

The programme, to which around 47.5 million dirhams is earmarked, provides for a range of actions targeting the provision of transportation means and the development of school infrastructure in rural areas. In this respect, the programme aims at delivering 8000 bicycles to rural schoolchildren and acquiring 72 school busses to facilitate access to schools in the same areas.

Under the same programme, bathrooms will be built in 130 rural schools and other schools will be equipped.

Afterwards the Sovereign visited the different facilities of the OCP social and educational institution of EL Jadida before awarding 10 busses and 200 bicycles benefiting rural schoolchildren.
