Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired, on Thursday at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, a new religious lecture on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The lecture was delivered by professor Othman Battikh, Mufti of the Republic of Tunisia, drawing on the drawing on the Quran verses : “O ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam. And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah´s favour on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided.”
Professor Battikh shed light on the appellation of Surah Ale Imran (the family of Imran), noting that this family gave true believers whom the Almighty chose. “Allah chose Adam, Nuh (Noah), the family of Ibrahim and the family of `Imran above the nations.” (Ale Imran:33)
On the revelation of the Surah, the lecturer pointed to the different explanations of the verse “Ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.” In this respect, he recalled a recalled a hadith (saying) of the Prophet explaining that the fear of the Almighty (Taqwa) means that “He is obeyed and not defied, remembered and not forgotten and appreciated and not unappreciated.”
The verse enjoins believers to be attached to the precepts of the religion and remain united avoiding division and dispersion for the good of the Muslim community and with a view to strengthen its ranks and reinforce its cohesion and development, said the professor.
The aforementioned verses are also about brotherhood, said the Mufti of Tunisia, adding that to preserve this brotherhood and safeguard it the Almighty recommends undertaking good offices and avoiding divergence.
Brotherhood, said professor Battikh, is the strongest link uniting the members of the Muslim Ummah wherever they are. He said this inherent characteristic to Islam brought together several peoples with different races and languages under the umbrella of the Ummah.
On this occasion, the lecturer underscore the strong brotherly ties between Morocco and Tunisia which are strengthened with the adherence of the two peoples to the Malikite rite.
At the end of the religious lecture, HM the King, Commander of the Faithful was greeted by Ihssane Mustapha, President of Rassael Annour Center (Turkey), Mohamad Arafat, President of the Civilizations Exchange & CooperationFoundation (USA), Abdelkader Kettani, Head of Department and Professor at the University Al Farth (Syria), Mohamed Mokhtar Al Mufti El Hassani, Professo rat the Al-Albayt university (Jordan) and other eminent professors.
