Washington – HM King Mohammed VI’s diplomacy is effective across the Maghreb which is an indication that “we may be standing in the threshold of a shift in relations” across the region, chairman of the Institute for Religion and Public Policy Joe Grieboski said.

“The visit of new Tunisian President, Moncef Marzouki, in Morocco and the very positive reports that have come out of it are an indication that his Majesty’s diplomacy is effective not just with Tunisia bilaterally but across the Maghreb. In addition to that the recent successful visit of Foreign Minister, Saad Dine El Otmani, to Algeria itself is an indication that we may be standing in the threshold of a shift in relations not just with Algeria, not just with Tunisia but across the Maghreb,” Grieboski told MAP on Friday.

“The fact is that if there is going to be successful integration between Maghreb countries, we have to learn from both the failures and the successes of the European Union, and that means there is a need for greater economic integration,” he added.

“As we look at the investments and the economic development taking place in Morocco, I think that the Kingdom needs to be a model for the other countries of the Maghreb,” he noted.
