HM King Mohammed VI A Sovereign So Committed To Stability Of Morocco-Europe Relations

Casablanca – HM King Mohammed VI is a sovereign so committed to ensuring stability of relations between Morocco and Europe, which are key to developping ties between Europe and North Africa, president of the European Parliament (EP), Martin Schulz, said.

For me, this is an impressive experience to meet a Sovereign so committed, along with his country, to ensuring stability of relations between Morocco and Europe, which are key to developping relations between Europe and North Africa, Schulz told the press after the audience granted to him by HM King Mohammed VI, on Saturday at the Royal Palace of Casablanca.

This audience was an opportunity for us to discuss relations between the EU and Morocco and examine the various options for deeper collaboration between the Parliament of Morocco and the European Parliament, as well as within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean, he added.

We also discussed cooperation in the Maghreb and the situation in the Middle East, Egypt and Libya, Schulz, who is in Morocco on a two-day official visit, said.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Karim Ghellab, told the press that the president of the European Parliament congratulated HM the King for the far-sighted reforms under way in Morocco in order to make genuine democracy take roots.

Regarding relations between the EP and the Moroccan parliament, Ghellab emphasized the willingness of both sides to work together, particularly within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean, towards establishing a Mediterranean area enjoying ??peace, stability and economic and social development.

HM King Mohammed VI received, on Saturday at the Royal Palace of Casablanca, the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz. The audience was attended by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Karim Ghellab, and advisor to HM the King, Taieb Fassi Fihri.
