Paris – Morocco is on the good path to improve its higher educational system, notably in financing, on condition that the reforms undertaken so far are reinforced, said the World Bank (WB) and the French Development Agency (AFD) in a joint report presented in Paris.
The autonomy of universities, involvement of the private sector and other efforts made to better adapt to the needs of the job market, are initiatives welcomed by the authors of this report entitled: “Higher Education in the Middle East and North Africa: Reaching Financial Sustainability While Providing High Quality Standards.”
Morocco has already embarked on a series of reforms, particularly in the autonomy of the universities, which is an important and positive step, Adriana Jaramillo, the WB co-author of the report, told Moroccan news agency MAP.
The pundit said that Morocco is on the good path, although there are things to be done yet, notably regarding equity and the follow-up of the system outcome.
