The North Fork of Long Island has many attributes — great wines, (relatively) affordable summer rentals and a lovely carousel — but shopping has never been the area’s strong suit. Last week’s opening of Eureka Beachon Main Street in Greenport will give the area a much-needed retail boost. The brainchild of the fashion designer Lucy Barnes, the television producer Heidi Kelso and the antiques dealer Fran Lombardi-Reilly, the shop reflects the trio’s personalities and specialties, with offerings ranging from new and vintage women’s clothing and accessories to children’s items and decorative accessories for the home. The opening also marks the debut of the Eureka Beach collection of caftans, tunics and dresses. “We created the line because while there are other things out there, they were just too expensive for what you’d get,” Kelso explains. “Ours are cotton, linen and silk pieces that aren’t too precious and aren’t too expensive.” The line, which ranges from $100 to $350, hangs alongside pieces by Barnes (look for the stretch denim “Miracle skirt”), jewelry by the North Fork weekender Paige Novick, Chascona bags by the stylist Karan Schijman, Riudavets summery leather slip-ons, children’s clothing by Wovenplay and textiles from Bali, Turkey and Morocco. Prices start at about $15 for a simple bangle and top out at $750 for a Moroccan blanket adorned with paillettes.
