HGCA visit millers and buyers abroad
BCE, HGCA’s export arm, will host a series of events in Spain, Portugal and Morocco this month to help exporters network with millers and buyers abroad.
The annual visits, dubbed the Outward Missions are for countries with strong import demands suited to the quality of UK grain, and are part of HGCA’s work to generate interest in UK wheat overseas and support the domestic market.
The first event takes place in Madrid on 10 October where exporters will network with Spanish wheat buyers. Then in Porto, Portugal on 11 October, BCE will host a seminar for Portuguese millers and grain buyers.
The Outward Mission to Casablanca, Morocco, on 17 October will see BCE host a seminar on the technical aspects and advantages of uks wheat which is used for the biscuit industry, to Moroccan millers and buyers. There will also be a meeting with ONICL, the state buying agency for Morocco, based in Rabat.
BCE Chairman, George Forbes, said: “In a difficult year such as this, it is even more important for the missions to go ahead, as it helps us maintain contacts and relationships with our overseas customers, it’s about the long term development of showing them what BCE does and what it can offer in the future.”
A further mission to Algeria is being planned for next month.
BCE will be exhibiting at the European Bourse in Edinburgh, on 5 October, and will also hold its Bread Baking Workshop in February next year. New for 2013 will be a Biscuit Baking Workshop, which aims to get overseas millers learning more about uks wheat.
