Riyadh – The ministerial council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) decided, Wednesday following a meeting in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), to submit to the six-nation superior council a recommendation on setting up a 5-year development programme for Morocco and Jordan.

The two Kingdoms were invited to join the Gulf grouping last May.

A GCC press release said the recommendation will be submitted to the next superior council of the Gulf bloc, due next December in the Saudi capital.

Last September, Morocco and Jordan attended a meeting of the GCC in the Saudi city of Jeddah, during which a five-year economic development assistance programme to help both Kingdoms were unveiled.

It was also agreed, meanwhile, to form specialized committees to study the memberships of Jordan and Morocco and submit a comprehensive membership plan to the council.
