Geography schools trips have been in hot demand since schools returned from the summer holidays in September. The Adventure Company has seen a huge increase in enquiries for Geography School trips abroad to destinations including Iceland, Morocco, Jordan and Costa Rica. Our feature destination this month is Morocco, our most popular destination for Geography School trips over the last two years.
Morocco offers a truly unique geographical experience with spectacular landscapes from lush valleys to arid desert, combined with the intrigue of human activity in both rural and urban settings of a developing country, provide almost limitless educational opportunities for your tour. Marrakech and the High Atlas Mountains provide an ideal location for geography groups looking for a field trip in a more exotic setting. Students on a Geography school trip to Morocco can study aspects of physical and human geography first-hand whilst at the same time developing relevant fieldwork and related geographical enquiry skills.

The Adventure Companies 5 day Morocco Geography school trip www.adventurecompany.co.uk/school-trips/geography includes the opportunity to study Developing world city and urban change by looking at the growth of Marrakech in the context of Urban Change and the issues of housing and programmes to manage them. The Jemaa el-Fna Square and Medina Souks (Old Town) provide fascinating visits whilst the El Koutoubia mosque and the five calls to prayer are a daily reminder of the diversity of international cultures. There is also the chance to study Plate tectonics and Natural hazards. A journey through the High Atlas (viewing Mount Toubkal, 4,167m) via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass reveals stunning landscapes, natural and human, and offers an insight into plate tectonics and fold mountain formation. Uplifted sedimentary strata, tilted and folded (volcanic rocks in evidence too) are seen and river incision, with classic incised meanders are very clear for the students. Flash flooding is a natural hazard and the optional Study Unit allows good engagement with this topic.
