GCC : Bahrain Chairs GCC Meeting

Riyadh, Jul 7 (BNA) Senior officials from the GCC foreign ministries convened a joint meeting today (Sunday 7th of July 2013) in the GCC General Secretariat’s premises to formulate plans for the joint cooperation between the GCC block and each of Jordan and Morocco pursuant to the resolution of the 32nd session of the Supreme Council for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States that was held in Riyadh in December 2011.

The meeting was to discuss establishing special ties with these two brotherly countries that have brethren, religious, and common destiny with the GCC States as the cooperation with them represent an important strategic depth to the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The meeting was chaired by Undersecretary of Regional & GCC Affairs, Ambassador Hamad Ahmed Alamer. Alamer stated that the top agenda item of the meeting is to expedite the implementation of the joint action plans endorsed by the two parties in their meetings in Bahrain in 2012 in coordination between top officials from both sides.

He stated that the outcome of the meeting will be raised to the joint ministerial council of the GCC Foreign Ministers and their Jordanian and Moroccan counterparts on the sidelines of the preparatory GCC Ministerial Council for the upcoming GCC Summit in Kuwait.
