(MAP) Paris – French president Nicolas Sarkozy said, on Saturday, that his country hopes that Morocco will join the “Deauville Partnership” which aims at supporting Arab states engaged in democratic transition. “As part of measures adopted at the latest G8 meeting, on May 27, France hopes that Morocco will join the Deauville Partnership, which aims to lend practical support for the Arab states engaged in democratic transition,” said the Elysée in a statement reporting a telephone conversation between Sarkozy and HM King Mohammed VI.
During this conversation, Sarkozy congratulated the Sovereign on the approval of Morocco’s new constitution, the statement added. He also expressed his country’s full support for the “exemplary” process through which Morocco pursues resolutely and peacefully its democratic achievements.
