Rabat – The French development agency (AFD) granted on Thursday Morocco a soft loan worth 50 million euros and a donation of 300,000 euros in support of the Green Morocco plan, which aims at boosting agricultural production.
In this respect, agreements were signed in Rabat by Minister of Economy, Finance Nizar Baraka and French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé and AFD director in Morocco Joël Daligault.
Speaking to MAP, Daligault said that the aid will be geared towards promoting agriculture and farmers in the least developed regions as part of the implementation of the Green Morocco Plan.
Baraka noted that this funding will be directed to assist small-scale farming in the regions of Tangier-Tetouan, Fez-boulemane and Taza-Al Hoceima.
The signing of the loan and the grant agreements mirror the excellence of Moroccan-French relations, added the Moroccan official.
Juppé, for his part, commended the “ambitious” reforms launched in Morocco, highlighting the “strong” friendship between the two countries.
The French Minister also reiterated his country’s support for Morocco’s efforts to settle the Sahara issue on the basis of the autonomy plan.
He also highlighted the ongoing coordination with Morocco at the international level concerning the crisis in Syria.
