Rabat – Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani summoned Spain’s Ambassador to Rabat to demand explanations about statements by Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz concerning the situation of members of Spain’s Civil Guard in some Jaafarines Islands, Communication Minister and Spokesperson for the Government Mustapha El Khalfi said on Thursday in Rabat.
El Khalfi told reporters following the weekly government council meeting that the Foreign Minister expressed the Moroccan government’s concern over these statements, adding that such measures require full coordination with Moroccan authorities as well as common action.
El Otmani also demanded explanations from the Spanish diplomat regarding other inacceptable statements and measures by the Spanish Interior Minister relating to the battle of Anoual, added El Khalfi.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation is closely following this issue, he said.
